Recently I have been focussing more on doing seo on the site itself rather than building links or spamming on other people’s websites. The main part of seo for me was to remove all the useless content from the website and make the content a lot more in focus for both the user and the search engine.
Lets take the process with a few examples.
1.When you install a script like wordpress with default template and you make a post. The post has content “title”, “description” and some text like “when the post was made”, “author name”, “some things related to feed” and blah blah. If your doing seo then what actually matters from all the content is just the “title” and “description”. The chances that someone comes to your post by searching through other text values is very less and its better that the other things are removed from the template.2.Links from each page. Whatever outgoing links that should be on page should be of some relevancy. If your pointing a page with travel content to an adult site, then its not relevant unless its something about sex tourism. So try to maintain relevancy. If your using wordpress then there are a few plugins available that will automatically link a few relevant posts from a single post and that is very useful for your users and search engine.
3.Metatags can help your website in certain way. If you think that your competitor might be checking out your pages, then you can use the metatags to put some keywords rather than using the body. This way your competitor might not notice what keywords your using. Very useful for bloggers
4.More pages definitely helps. Try to split a big article into a lot smaller ones which have similar titles. I see that smaller posts can have more value than a single article.
5.Use the nofollow tag for comments with links. This can prevent user spam and the search bots will know what is of value and what is not.
